In this six-week class, young artists will explore the pottery process while building foundational clay skills. Each two-hour class includes hands-on instruction in pottery basics. While the focus of the class series will be on the basics of handbuilding, with a focus on handbuilding techniques and an opportunity to experience throwing clay on the pottery wheel.
Students will learn how to shape, join, decorate, and glaze clay while creating a variety of functional and creative projects. Projects may include bowls, mugs, candleholders, lidded boxes, canisters, and sculptural pieces.
No previous pottery experience is required. Ages 7-14
-We ask that students purchase a 25 pound bag of clay to use the duration of the class, this clay can be purchased directly through Hearth Folk Studios and costs $25 (we can offer it at a slight discount, compared to $29).*
-All tools and equipment are provided by the studio, however if the student would like to purchase a basic set of 8 tools through the studio, we offer a set for $10.
**After purchase you will receive an email that includes a student information form and a waiver to fill out prior to the beginning of the program.
