About Us

A Note from the Owner: Madeleine Meyer

Welcome to Hearth Folk Studios!

I believe creativity thrives in community. Hearth Folk is a warm, welcoming ceramic studio built to bring people together through clay, whether you’re touching the wheel for the first time, returning to a longtime hobby, or deepening an established artistic practice.

The studio offers pottery classes for adults and youth of any skill level, memberships, workshops, open studio time, parties, events, and various creative experiences. My hope is that Hearth Folk provides a space where art education and pottery practice come together through creativity, laughter, and gathering in community.

I’ve been working with clay for over 20 years, ever since I first touched a pottery wheel in junior high school. What started as an early creative outlet quickly became a lasting passion, eventually becoming my primary focus throughout university.

Over the past decade, I’ve taught ceramics in community studios, led private lessons, and continued developing my own ceramic practice alongside teaching.

I care deeply about creating spaces that feel encouraging, accessible, and creatively rich. A place where beginners feel comfortable, experienced potters feel inspired, and everyone has room to grow.

I’m also a mom of two young kids, and I know how important access to art is for children. The experiences kids have in art classes can shape not only their creativity, but also their confidence, self-expression, resiliency, and beliefs about their own abilities. In addition to our adult classes, Hearth Folk offers a range of after-school, weekend, and no-school-day classes and workshops for youth.

More than anything, Hearth Folk Studios exists to create a space where people can gather, learn, experiment, and create together. Clay has a way of grounding us, slowing us down, and connecting us to ourselves and each other.

Hope to see you soon!
